Nudism

What do you think about nudism / what does your church/denomination teach about nudism? I'm curious. :-)

I'll do some research on the Catholic church and let you know what we teach, as well as my own thoughts on the subject.

Blessings & Peace,
Hugo

Historically we're pretty conservative about anything that could be construed as a provocation to sin, however I do find slight cultural variances but they would still support covering the torso and middle body under all circumstances.

Of course you know you've got me wondering here, "what's up wif dat"? ;-)

I have a tough time with this one. I don't see a lot scripturally to support this. God made us nude, I think he likes nudity.

And umm...Hugo, are you curious? or are you CURIOUS?

It seems as if Hugo is exploring a whole new side of his world.

Hey I don't have a problem with nudity, I think that God made us special that way.

KC/Jaded: :-) I'm not "CURIOUS', just "curious" - we were talking about the Immaculate Conception in class today and wandered onto the topic of nudity, which of course led to nudist beaches and then nudist resorts, etc. (Many of our kids travel in Europe where social mores against skin are somewhat more relaxed). So no, you won't be seeing me in the buff anytime soon (I know, I know - you're disappointed - sorry!).

So anyways, I'm trying to find what I can on the web @ work without triggering our filters and here at home without triggering my wife :-)

I'll let y'all know what I come up with soon.

Blessings & Peace,
Hugo

Its funny that you are looking up the immaculate conception, while over here (being that is almost playoff season) I'm getting ready for highlights of the Immaculate Reception.

I undestand about setting off both of those filters. I would encourage you to do some google research (with your wife looking over your shoulder) to see what you find. Its an interesting subject. I'm sure you'll come up with plenty of ultra conservative Christians who say that skin is bad, but I just don't see it that way.

I believe that God wants us to be decent, but not prudish. He made us. He has accented certain parts of the body (mainly 1 for males and 1 for females) designed for intimate times together that is not intended to be shared with everyone.

But the other areas he has not specified so clearly.

I really think about places that looked at nudity and body before Christian missionaries came in. Most were very open with their bodies, unashamed to worship "God" in all their being until someone came in and said that was wrong.

Of course...I could be wrong. God may not like people to be revealing themselves in "inappropriate" ways.

Hugo I gave what I considered my Church would approve of. Personally I was raised on the bay and have the same attitude as Ken. We all ran around half naked and the only people who got attention were fully dressed! I do think there are limits and times and places and further I think our conscience tells us those if we allow it. ;-)

I know that views on nudity are culturally conditioned (as per a previous comment) . . . I had never thought about the possibility that the cultural context could shift from place to place in the same country. :-)
